When I was very young, the term STEEL gave the image of shiny polished grey metal. In the high school, we came to know that Iron (Fe) came from inside the earth's crust in raw forms called ores. Specialized methods were used to take out the pure metal to make it useful.
All this information had no practical implications till I came into the real world of steel. Many a times, things seem to be petty but are larger than our wildest imaginations!
Steel making is a process that is ages old. Time only refined it further. In my personal opinion, there were a few incidences which changed the direction and destiny of mankind. The first of all was when man learned to ignite a fire. Then came the most revolutionary revolution: wheels! Ability to play around with metals was the third greatest achievemnets of mankind. Then comes the digital era, when it was established that when an electric current is passed through a silicon chip, the resulting signal is presence and absence of a signal (bit). Nano-technology, although in its infancy, will prove to be another turning point for the mankind.
I'll talk more on steel, but not now...
